Scotland’s Four Words of Hope founder joins Festival of Politics panel

Frank Strang, founder of Scotland’s Four Words of Hope, will join a panel discussion on trust in public institutions at the Festival of Politics in the Scottish Parliament later this month.

Trust In Public Institutions

The event, Trust in Public Institutions, takes place from 3pm to 4.15pm on Thursday 27 August 2026. It will consider how public bodies can strengthen accountability, oversight, transparency and humanity in the wake of scandals such as the Post Office Horizon case.

Strang will be joined by Professor Tobias Jung, Professor of Management at the University of St Andrews and founder and director of the Centre for the Study of Philanthropy & Public Good; Sarah Davidson, chief executive of Carnegie UK; and Dewi Knight, founding director of policyWISE.

The discussion will explore how institutions can avoid repeating failures that cause deep public harm, and what is needed to rebuild confidence in the systems designed to serve communities.

Scotland’s Four Words of Hope promotes a simple message: “Help is always here.” The initiative aims to encourage compassion, connection and practical support for people facing difficult circumstances.
