INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Scotland's
Four Words of Hope

Scotland’s Four Words of Hope is a simple invitation to do our public life differently.

Inscribed on the Scottish Parliament’s Mace are four words – integrity, compassion, justice and wisdom – that describe the kind of politics, debate and decision making we long for.

This project is about bringing those words back to the centre of how we speak, debate and choose our representatives.

Use this site to explore the story, the values and the practical tools you can use in your own context.

Central to this initiative is ‘The Pledge’ – a short, practical commitment to let integrity, compassion, justice and wisdom guide our public life. If this resonates with you, we’d love you to explore the pledge and consider signing it.
